Well, kind of.  The once popular show that ran from 1993-2000, is officially making a comeback after ABC announced that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will be reprising their famous roles as Corey Matthews and Topagna Lawrence in a Boy Meets World spinoff titled Girl Meets World.

“We can confirm that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will reprise their hugely popular roles of Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, this time as a happily married couple and parents to 13-year-old Riley, from whose point of view the story is told. The pilot is still in the very early stages of development with creator and executive producer Michael Jacobs, Emmy Award-winning creator/producer behind Boy Meets World,My Two Dads and Charles In Charge, among others. A nationwide casting search is underway for the starring role of Riley Matthews.”

Fishel also posted the news on her tumblr page, where she also thanked the fans for making this spinoff possible.

“First of all, let me say that you, the fans of Boy Meets World, have been awesome,” said Fishel.  “That word is often used incorrectly by people, including myself, on a daily basis but you have truly been awe inspiring.  You, yes, even YOU, are the reason that Girl Meets World WILL BE MADE.”

She also assures fans that the new series will continue with just as much heart as the original show.

“If we’re going to try and bring it back, we want to bring it back with the same heart and integrity and innocence that the first one had,” she explains. “We’re going to make sure we don’t let anybody down.”

Savage believes that fans shouldn’t worry about the new series ruining the Boy Meets World name.

“It’s funny, a lot of the tweets and emails and mentions I’ve gotten are from a lot of people who are worried that the show won’t hold up. And that we shouldn’t do it because it’s going to ruin a lot of their childhood memories. And I totally can understand that,” the 32-year-old actor admitted. “But we’re working really hard and doing everything we can to make sure that this is going to be something special and funny. Hopefully it’ll make new memories for a new generation.”

At this time there is no word on whether Girl Meets World will have any involvement with any of the other original characters. But it’s not to say we won’t see Shawn Hunter, Eric Matthews, Mr. Feeny, or the Feeny call.

“We’re going to wait and see what happens,” teases Savage.

Ever since the news of the spinoff came out, fans have been waiting for when will we see Corey and Topagna back on TV.  Savage tweeted, “We’re almost there.”

Stay tuned for Girl Meets World coming soon to ABC Family.
