Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Of Monsters And Men played a free concert in Philadelphia on a rainy day this past Saturday as part radio 104.5’s summer block party series.

This is the third annual summer block party, which features one free concert a month, from May to September.

The concerts are held at the Piazza at Schmidt’s in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia. So far the concerts have been headlined by acts such as Eve 6, Dirty Heads, Neon Trees, and Switchfoot.

Of Monsters and Men were originally heard in America last year after Booby Malone, a friend of 104.5’s Johnny, shared a performance video he heard on an Icelandic radio station.

According to Johnny, 104.5’s listeners began downloading them off of Itunes at a rapid pace, and soon there was a bidding war to sign them to an International deal.

Of Monsters and Men were more than delighted to play a free concert for the American radio station that “discovered” them.

The show opened up Philadelphia’s Tim Williams as well as Los Angeles’ indie rock band, JJamz.

The last show of 104.5’s summer concert series will be September 8th and will feature AWOLNation and Imagine Dragons.
